Fundraising Policy

Any registered user may submit a campaign, either for their own verified need or on behalf of another person or community, provided they can supply evidence supporting the stated need and, where fundraising on behalf of someone else, a reasonable basis for doing so.

Before publication, a campaign is reviewed by our fundraising administrators, who examine the description, target amount, category and supporting evidence. A campaign may be returned for more information, and is only published once it has passed review and, for campaigns tied to a case, once the underlying case has reached verified status.

Fundraisers must set a target amount that reasonably reflects the documented need and must use funds raised, net of fees, for the stated purpose. Any significant change of purpose must be reported to our fundraising administrators and reflected in a published update.

Fundraisers are encouraged, and may be required, to post updates on how funds are being used, particularly for larger campaigns. Updates are reviewed before publication to keep the public record accurate.

Published campaigns remain subject to monitoring. A campaign can be paused, suspended or closed by fundraising or finance administrators if evidence emerges of inaccurate claims, misuse of funds, or a breach of our Terms of Use.

We do not take a percentage cut of donations made to a campaign. Payment processing fees and transfer charges, where applicable, are described on our Transparency page and in our Donation Policy. A withdrawal fee may apply when funds raised are paid out; it is disclosed before any withdrawal is made.

Where a fundraiser is created on behalf of an organisation rather than an individual, additional documentation may be requested to confirm the organisation's legitimacy and its relationship to the reported need.
